Ross Geller, played by David Schwimmer, appeared in all 10 seasons of the iconic sitcom Friends as Rachel Green’s older brother and Monica Geller’s younger brother. Ross is an astronomer, who first met Rachel when she was at camp with her family when they were young children; he was six years old, and she was four at the time.
Early Life
Ross Geller is one of the main characters on Friends. Ross was born in September 24, 1967 to Jack and Judy Geller. In his early life, Ross went to a military boarding school and had a difficult time fitting in there. He later transferred to public school, where he met Rachel Green. The two bonded over having parents who were divorced and started dating when Ross was 16 years old. Ross never graduated from college because he found his true passion for paleontology after being assigned the summer project of Jurassic Park for his Geology class at NYU.
Education
Ross Geller graduated from Wesleyan University with a B.A. in English Literature. He then went on to attend UCLA where he received his M.A. in Theater Arts, and a J.D., graduating Cum Laude from the UCLA School of Law in 1994 with honors while being an active member of the Student Bar Association Board of Directors and serving as President of the Jewish Law Students Union. Ross is currently a partner at the law firm, Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce LLP, and specializes in advertising law representing clients such as Heinz Ketchup, Honda Acura, Sony Pictures Studios and Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation among others.
Career
Ross Geller is an accomplished and successful businessman who is passionate about real estate. Ross is a friend of the main characters on Friends, and he shares an apartment with Monica, Chandler and Joey. Ross has been married three times. He has two children from his first marriage to Carol Willick: Ben, born in 1977, and Rachel, born in 1984. Ross also had twin girls with his second wife Emily Waltham: Emma and Erica, born in 1990. Ross was divorced from Emily before the birth of their twins. His third marriage was to Rachel Green after a short courtship; they have no children together though they are stepfather-stepdaughter due to her earlier relationship with her father Ross’s best friend on the show Joey Tribbiani.
Personal Life
Ross is a paleontologist who is employed at the Museum of Natural History. He has an older brother, Ben, and an identical twin sister, Monica. Ross and Rachel were best friends in high school, but due to a misunderstanding with his then-girlfriend Julie they lost touch after graduation. They reconnected when they both started working at Central Perk. Ross was married to Carol for six years before divorcing her and marrying Rachel. They have three children: Ben (named after Ross’s brother), Emma (named after Monica’s mother) and Jack (named after Monica’s father).
